No attacks on women

On the 100th anniversary of March 8th, International Women’s Day

In Mumbai

No attacks on women

Unite to end assaults on our persons, our mobility, our livelihoods

On March 8, 1908,working women in the needle trade industry marched on the streets of New York City demanding better working conditions.

Two days ago it was the hundredth anniversary of that historic march by working women demanding justice. The women of Mumbai expressed their solidarity with women all over the world (struggling for justice and rights) through a large manifestation. As they had done for more than two decades they marched together in the city expressing their distress for the atmosphere of chauvinistic violence in Mumbai. They appealed to the people of Mumbai to come forward and support women. As the Kaospilots we are, we gladly joined them in their walk. As for the work with women rights we have to wait and see, if we’re lucky a project might come to our knowledge and hand the opportunity of working more hands on with this matter.

When in India…

We’ve been here for 33 hours now and I feel like I’m starting to reach ground. Mumbai is an enormous city and so far I’ve only seen the blocks surrounding our hotel.

Today I got invited to a food festival but friendly declined, it seemed nice but I don’t think I can handel all the bacterias yet. Instead we’ve been walkning the streets of Colaba up and down, trying to figure out how it all hangs together.

So long!

A Hot Surprise!

bikram

Today we were given a surprise from our two lovely team leaders. We’d been told to bring a towel, a bottle of water and some thin clothing. bikrambikram

After a short walk we ended up at a Yoga Centre to do Bikram Yoga. Bikram Yoga is also known as Hot Yoga, that’s because of the heat in the room, it’s ideally practiced in a room heated to 40.5°C. It’s a physically hard class and it lasts approximately 90-minutes.

I guess it was a good preparation before our departure for Mumbai next week. And the laughter of seeing myself and my friends trying to turn ourselves inside out/upside down without any greater luck was appreciated on a rainy and grey Wednesday.

The Kaospilots in Asia

From an email I just found out that the Kaospilot team from Norway will be in Vietnam for their outpost – cool!

So as it seems, right now, the danish team has taken over Shanghai, we are soon heading for Mumbai and the norweigans are aiming at Hanoi.

So, for the Kaospilots, this spring will come to circle a lot around Asia. Interesting and probably it’s saying something about were in the world the most stuff is happening right now.

education plan.

While Partik & Siri are preparing for their big departure tomorrow, I’m sitting here wondering over the education plan. What would be the best way of writing it, should I include all there is, or just the things not already mentioned in other documents? Is it necessary or just a lot of unnecessary work? I’ll have to look into this some more, look at it tonight and decide on it at 11am Thursday. Seems like a plan.

Off they go!

Tomorrow morning the first two Swedish Kaospilots (Patrik & Siri) are leaving for Mumbai. When there they will be our researchers and with direction from the Kaospilot head quarters in Malmö they will get different assignments. Right away they will have to find us some place to live and act contact persons for the different business we’re in discussion with.

See you in three weeks!

Networks Mumbai

Now I’ve spent a couple of hours looking into interesting networks in Mumbai. It’s hard though when not knowing where to begin, which people will know the right persons and who will lead me to the next.

I’ve talked to a few of my friends friends and colleagues and they have put me in contact with some creative forces of Mumbai, might lead to something…
